Case 2 after all-on-4 dentures

All-on-4 Dental Implants

If you're missing most or all of the natural teeth along an arch, you know how difficult even simple things like chewing and smiling can be.

The dentists at the Center for Dentistry in Aiken, SC, offer a path back to a fully functional smile with All-on-4® dental implants.

This dental implant method makes use of existing jawbone tissue to support a permanent denture. Interested? Contact our team today.

How Do Dental Implants Work?

Dental implants are prosthetic tooth roots that anchor in the jawbone. They fuse with the jaw over the course of four to six months. This process is called osseointegration. Once osseointegration is complete, the implants can support custom-made dental restorations.

Implants are considered the best tooth loss treatment for several reasons:

  • In combination with restorations, they are the only option for replacing teeth from root to crown.
  • They provide the same jaw stimulation that natural tooth roots do, keeping the jaw strong and preventing deterioration and tooth loss.
  • While dental restorations eventually need to be replaced, dental implants last for life.

What's All-on-4?

Implants can be used to secure dental crownsbridges, or dentures. One of the most cutting-edge implant denture placement methods is called the All-on-4 technique. Six to eight implants are usually needed for traditional implant dentures, but the All-on-4 technique requires only four.

Is All-on-4 Right for Me?

Dr. Leah B. Wilkins or Dr. Talmadge D. Wilkins IV will check that you meet these criteria before clearing you for All-on-4 treatment.

Missing Most or All Teeth

All-on-4 is meant for patients who are missing a full arch of teeth. If you still have a few remaining teeth along an arch, our dentists can perform gentle tooth extractions to create space for your implant denture. If you have more localized tooth loss, we can address your needs with implant-supported dental crowns or an implant-supported bridge instead.

Generally Good Oral Health

Other than tooth loss, All-on-4 candidates are in a state of good oral health, free of issues like gum disease and tooth decay in the remaining teeth. If you do have an oral health issue that would disqualify you from treatment, know that our dentists provide a wide range of general and restorative dentistry services and can treat your concerns to restore candidacy.

Some Existing Jaw Density

Although the All-on-4 technique requires less jaw material than traditional implant placement methods, you still need to have some degree of jaw density to qualify. If your jaw has deteriorated to the point where All-on-4 placement isn't an immediate option, our dentists can perform a bone graft to replenish lost tissue and prepare your jaw for All-on-4 implants.

Insurance and Financing For All-on-4 Dental Implants

Your dental insurance provider will likely only cover part of your All-on-4 treatment. Most dental insurance companies will not cover dental implants, but implant-supported restorations are usually eligible for coverage. Our Aiken, SC, practice accepts most types of dental insurance and will work with your provider to maximize your benefits.

We also accept financing through CareCredit® to keep your costs manageable regardless of your insurance status or out-of-pocket expenses. CareCredit offers loans with low or no interest that you can repay in small monthly installments that won't strain your budget.
